The idea of buying gold via etf is same as buying gold is a misconception, 1 you buy gold as an insurance against stupidity of government like the one he is covering overprinting of indian rupee, the people in usa also buy gold against stupidity of their government like printing too much usd and confiscating russias usd reserves. buy physical gold reason is if you dont hold it you do nnot own it. in the 1900's the us used to have gold certificates in 1920's these were confiscated by govt, and revalued at 35.00 usd. the etf are similar once gold becomes unobtainable the etf gold will not provide you any return. gold is money this is why the central banks own it in physical form not in etf form , if you want the price of gold to rise buy physical bullion remove it from the supply market so it cannot be hypoticated by these etfs,, if the etf was soo good why does the indian govt not buy etf gold

owning a piece of paper ETF is not the same as owing gold bullion, the person who runs the etf may own just 1 ton of gold and has sold 100 tons of gold etf to you and the other investors , o=its only when the shit hits the fan then you will realise that all you held was paper the etf will declare bankrupcy and all you will be left with is a contarct that you held gold in the end the fund when its liquidated you may end up with 0.0001% of the gold that you though you held. look at gold's history this has ha penned over an over again and this time is no different dont be a fool buy bullion hold physical not paper promises

Suppose we invest in Indian mutual fund, gold ETF and also invest some amount in foreign stock market over a period of 20 years. After that we want to withdraw under SWP scheme then at that point of time how much tax we would need to pay and how the tax would be calculated.
