“Born in the USA” is a political song which is criticizing the US govt for the condition of Vietnam war veterans. Springsteen tries to highlight the sharp contrast between American pride and the bleak reality faced by returning soldiers. They were faced with massive unemployment, ptsd and govt abandonment and it’s a protest song! Given Mukherjeas age and him brandishing the fact that he grew up in UK, he should have known this!! 🙄
