One thing that no one talks about is, what was our population when we got independence? 35 crores. If we had got to 70 crores from then to now, if would've made sense. But with 150 crores, this nation is choking. A deceleration is definitely necessary. Of course, it comes at a cost to family structure, but our ancestors should've thought through that. They didn't. They kept making children having 9,10 kids per couple and now people are finding it hard to raise 1 with good financials. Think about the crunch our natural resources are going through with our crushing population, be it land, water, forests, air, mountains and what not! People like Elon wants to keep the Asian population choking, because that's when our PPP will always be low and the western people can keep devouring our resources with their dollar. Like it or not, it was events like the black death that happened in Europe in 14th century, that their population curve went below asian ones. And in a way, it has helped their civilization along with modernization. People can point at China having developed despite their humongous population like ours. But at what cost! Most people don't see the environmental cost they paid to get to this point with that population.
