AI-powered robots could drastically reduce the time needed for many jobs and work 24/7 without fatigue. While this could be a huge advantage for developed countries facing labour shortages, it also risks replacing millions of low-income jobs, especially in developing countries, increasing unemployment and poverty. If fewer people are employed, governments may also face lower tax revenues, making it one of the biggest economic challenges of the AI era.
